How to convert PNG to JPG
- Select PNG files. Drop images into the box or use the file picker. Conversion starts automatically.
- Choose the output. Adjust JPG quality and select the color that replaces transparent areas. The queue updates when you change a setting.
- Compare the results. Each completed row shows the dimensions, original size, JPG size, and size change. Open the preview to compare both images.
- Download your images. Save a JPG individually, or select Create ZIP and then Save ZIP to download all completed results. If a file fails, retry it or remove it.

JPG is often useful for photographs, but it is not always the best choice for a screenshot or logo. Compression can soften fine text and introduce artifacts around sharp edges. Keep the PNG when transparency or crisp graphics matter more than file size. For web delivery, you can also try the PNG to WebP converter.
Check quality before downloading
The quality setting controls the browser's JPEG encoder; it is not a percentage of the original detail retained. A 90% setting is a useful starting point, but results vary by image and browser. Check fine text, gradients, and edges in the original/JPG preview. A setting of 100% still uses JPEG encoding and does not make the conversion lossless.
If the result is larger, the tool tells you. Try a lower quality setting, resize an unnecessarily large image with the image resizer, or keep the original PNG. This converter does not upscale images, remove backgrounds, or restore missing detail.
Privacy and practical limits
The conversion and ZIP code runs locally in the current browser tab. It does not upload your image files to a conversion server. Your photos remain completely private on your device. Images are processed one at a time to reduce peak memory use. File, pixel, and batch limits help protect your browser from very large workloads, but a low-memory device can still fail on an image within these limits. Try fewer or smaller files if conversion fails. Total completed output is limited to 256 MB per queue; download and clear completed images before adding more.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to a transparent PNG background?
The transparent areas are filled with white by default. Choose black or a custom color before downloading. This changes transparent and partly transparent pixels; it does not replace an already opaque background.
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?
Yes. JPEG uses lossy compression. The difference may be small in a photograph, but it can be noticeable in text, logos, and flat graphics. Compare the result and keep your original PNG.
How do I convert a JPG back to PNG?
If you need to place an image into a PNG container for an application that requires it, use our JPG to PNG converter. Note that converting to PNG will not recover detail lost during JPEG compression or automatically remove opaque backgrounds.
Can I convert several PNG files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 files within the batch limits. They are processed sequentially, and completed JPGs can be downloaded individually or together as a ZIP. Failed files are excluded from the ZIP.
Why did my JPG become larger?
Some PNGs, especially simple graphics, are already compact. JPEG size depends on image content and quality. Lower the quality and compare again, or keep the PNG if it suits your use.
Are metadata and color profiles preserved?
This tool draws the image to a browser canvas and creates a new JPG. It does not copy the original metadata, resolution tags, or embedded color profile. Color-managed or high-bit-depth images may change during decoding and export; use a dedicated image editor when exact color or metadata preservation is required.
Can I convert an animated PNG?
No. This version detects and rejects APNG animation rather than silently exporting a still image. Export the frame you want as a standard PNG in an animation editor first.
Does it work offline?
The converter can work after this page and its scripts have fully loaded, while the tab stays open. Opening or reloading the website offline is not guaranteed. No extra ZIP library needs to be downloaded.
Can I turn the JPG back into PNG?
You can use the JPG to PNG converter, but changing the format back will not restore detail lost in JPEG compression.
